It rained today - a lot! Well, we do live in a rain-forest. Despite this we still had lots of visitors - 28 humans, 12 pukekos and (thankfully, unsuccessfully) half a dozen sheep - they are not welcome but they still keep trying to get in.
The pukekos are in the first photo - they're the black blobs in the background. They wouldn't let me get any closer with the camera. Pukekos are native birds - sort of a swamp hen. They don't do any damage but they do tend to poo everywhere. They don't stay on the paths either - but that's probably a good thing with the poos and everything.
Did you know that if you click on a blog photo it brings up a bigger image? well, now you do.
cheers

Hey Alan,
The blog is looking really good mate. I was just reading it and thinking it might be an idea to add a hyper-link to things like pukeko as I've found so many people have no idea what we are talking about. I had loads of comments about using the word capsicum, as North Americans know it by another name. If do a link, I'll normally use Wikipedia as it's pretty good and once you are on that site, you tend to hit loads of their hyper links and read lods of interesting stuff for hours.
Right off for a run.
Lee
ps Tell Trish that if she ever cut Jarvee's hair without asking she'd be in SO MUCH TROUBLE with Ade and I ;o)
Thanks Lee,
Good advice. I'll do that when i work out how to.
Trish did have permission to cut Luke's hair, sort-of. She just got a bit carried away, as you do.
No doubt, she'll be winging her way to your place when the new bubby arrives. I'd check her bags for hair clippers if i was you.
cheers
Pukekos? What Pukekos? Can't see them Mr Hunt. Did they run off into the sunset? Or did you eat some funny mushrooms for lunch????
Oh, and I love the haircut Nanny gave Luke, he looks like the old baby now!
Charlie.
Hey Charlie,
Funny mushrooms indeed! It's not even the season for them. There's pukekos, in the second pic. There's clearly one by the school in the back-right and one to the left of the bridge. The other's all took flight.
(Mind you - old pple's eyes are not what they were).
Nice 2 hear from you and, yeah, i like the haircut too.
cheers
Oh yeah, I see them now that I expand the picture!
To tell you the truth the one beside the school, from a distance, could pass for a Moa, if you use your imagination and forget about the colour, and shut one eye, and stand on one leg...............
A Moa?
Oh yeah - i saw the resemblance, just before i fell over.
Thanks Charlie!
cheers
