Still Fine!

Record-low temperatures in Sydney, floods in Birmingham,England and in San Antonio, USA. Flooding up the North Island, gale-force winds around the Rimutakas. Snow & ice down South and wet & cold in Christchurch.

It's STILL brilliantly fine here - no rain, no fog not even any frosts now.

Global Warming? - Bring it on!

While We're At It

These are our Bearded Miners - there's 7 of them, of course.

This is Gavin of Reefton's Bearded Miners - not sure about making billy-tea with a teapot. (I went to school with Gavin, but don't tell anyone that.)

Thursday Already!

This was the first building that i ever made - a General Store for the English Village. It was made to the plans for a dolls-house because i didn't have the confidence to design my own. We've come a long way since then.

I've just finished renovating it - it needed a new roof with rubber roofing tiles because it was done in aluminum and they rusted - didn't think that aluminium would rust. It does.

Now, if i could just find the bay-windows for the front, it'll be done. They're green-framed with yellow-plastic bread-wrappers for curtains and i don't know where they are. I know exactly where they were, but that was before certain people pulled half my house down!

By The Way

That's Les Harvey's Bakery in Waiuta that Ben is painting there. Apparently, the shutter on the right was because of Sunday Trading laws - they weren't allowed to open the shop but they could open the shutter and sell stuff out of the window. Of course.

Roof Painting

It really is exceptionally dry for the time of year - no rain for weeks now and no fog either. It is so dry that we're able to paint the rooves - normally a summer-time job.

It doesn't take long to paint a roof, but there's hundreds of them and red paint lasts no time at all outside. Unfortunately, it was the day of the red roof and no-one painted their roof any other colour.

Everybody should have a friendly Giant with a big paint brush.

Signs of Spring

We've got lambs, in the paddock next-door, skipping about, full of 'joie de vivre'. Great to see them as it means that Winter's on the way out.

Shame that sheep all grow up looking like they've got a spirit of depression. Mind you, considering their fate, it's probably understandable. Who had a roast dinner this week?

Remember When

I said that 3 new houses were finished and that putting them outside was the hard part? Well, it was, but i finally did it.

Now all we have to do is to give them toilets, wash-houses, door-steps, water-tanks etc. etc. That's the hard part too.

Stuipid Village!

Hi, my name is Kyle Hunt and I am here in my Granddad's stuipid model village and it sucks because it's cold there's nothing to do.

Now I'm in trouble because my stupid Granddad read my stupid letter!

My poor Maoris! The lake was frozen solid too - maybe we could have a skating rink?

Wonder where Summer went?

Greymouth People!

Nikki and her girls came to the village on a fine & frosty morning. Don't often see Greymouth people these days, so that was good.

Sorry, Nikki, I left the note with the girls' names behind - post them tomorrow.

Cheers

Still Fine

Bloody cold though! But not as cold as Christchurch, so that's all right!

I Can See Clearly Now -

And this is mid-winter. Why would anyone want to live anywhere else? They must be mad!
